The Importance of the Conveyancing Quality Scheme

Introduced by the Law Society in 2011, the CQS provides a quality standard for residential conveyancing intended to improve the quality of service and confidence for consumers and lenders, and to enhance credibility across all stakeholders.

In addition, it is a powerful tool in the fight against mortgage and property fraud, money-laundering, and other financial crimes which sadly exist within the property market.

CQS is designed for firms authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) to provide residential conveyancing services. The scheme requires organisations to demonstrate compliance with Core Practice Management Standards (CPMS) and the CQS Protocol.

It has become so important that many lenders now require firms to hold a current CQS accreditation.
