Lexcel Training Tailored To Your Team

At PDA Legal we have been working with Lexcel since it was first introduced in 1998, and having conducted more than 2,000 legal sector visits, we know with absolute certainty that no two law firms or legal departments are the same.

Which means that, the best way to maximise the success and value of training is to tailor it specifically to your team.

Our approach is simple and has proven time and again to be effective: All of our Lexcel training is tailored to your specific needs, structured and presented in a way which works best for your teams.

In-Person Lexcel Training

This type of training works well for small, medium or large cohorts and can either be delivered at your offices, or at another local suitable location.

This can range from ‘traditional lecture-style’ training, through to ‘Round table’ format, which is often well suited for more senior staff where more complex issues can be informed and discussed. Training sessions are confidential and exclusively for your firm, which means participants are more comfortable asking questions, adding to the value gained from the training.

Live, Online Lexcel Training

This type of training can consist of:

  • Live online training sessions with a real trainer.

  • Content tailored uniquely to your firm.

  • Great flexibility on timing and reach.

  • Private sessions, tailored just for your team in small, medium or large cohorts.

  • 'Surgical' sessions for senior and specialist staff where complex issues can be informed and discussed.

  • Interaction with the trainer throughout the sessions, to stimulate and support delegate consideration of the topics.

Training Materials

We provide PDF copies of the slides in advance of sessions, that you can print and hand to your staff. They include space for notes so that attendees can prepare any question in advance of the live sessions.

Topics Covered

The content of the training is geared to the audience. For example, fee earning teams might have a different role to cover for Lexcel in contrast with partners, directors or managers who are overseeing the broader Lexcel controls. It will also depend on whether or not the firm is already Lexcel accredited. Overall, topics can include:
  • What Lexcel is about and how to prepare for an assessment or reassessment.

  • Navigating the Lexcel standard and understanding the controls required.

  • The regulatory backdrop that Lexcel supports.

  • How to obtain and maintain evidence to show Lexcel assessors.

  • Exploring the key documents and registers and plans that are required for Lexcel.

  • How to develop and update plans, policies, logs, registers and other controls/records for Lexcel.

  • Requirements for client care information, terms of business and other information to clients.

  • How to maintain evidence of compliance on matter files.

  • What to expect during an assessment and how to prepare for interviews.

  • How to deal with non-compliances if they are raised by an assessor.

Benefits of Lexcel Training

  • Removing the smoke and mirrors so that you feel more confident about what to expect from an assessment.

  • Achieving a clear perspective as to what is needed for Lexcel to help you plan time and resources towards and following an assessment.

  • Helping your team to feel more relaxed and ‘on board’ with the Lexcel process.

  • Avoiding being ‘blindsided’ by Lexcel requirements or assessor queries.

  • Keeping on top of requirements for documenting compliance and risk.

  • Keeping on top of reviews and scheduling compliance tasks.

  • Being able to connect sources of insight, lines of reporting and methods of monitoring of compliance, risk management and client care activity.
